Applications Engineer - West Yorkshire - up to £45,000 - Permanent

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join this brilliant global company in West Yorkshire. Working in their Engineering team that is renowned for engineering, designing, and manufacturing world class products to some the worlds biggest companies in the automotive industry.

You will be responsible for high-end designing of new bespoke products to customer specification, including production of detail drawings, BOM's and assembly drawings. To stay ahead of the competition this company invest heavily in their research and development and therefore makes them a fantastic environment to be part of new enhancements in the automotive technology.

As the Applications Engineer you will apply your engineering knowledge and skills, have an attention to detail, be involved in manufacturing processes working effectively as a member of a team. Duties:

-Develop routing and packaging based on the 3D-models from the customers and the internal design elements
-Work closely with operations and suppliers to insure all new designs are robust for manufacturing
-Responsibility for product capability & performance
-Manage new product testing programs
-Develop, design, specify and standardize products based on the application specification from customers respectively manufacturing requirements (both customer and internal)
- Conduct work and approvals via New Product Introduction (NPI) process
-Do design feasibility checks on customers drawings and spec's
-BOM & related documentation, develop DFMEA's and DVP
-Follow engineering trends for chosen applications and (sub) components.

You will have:

-Engineering degree (HNC / HND also considered) with a minimum 5 years industry experience.
-Good knowledge in 3D CAD systems, preferably Catia V5 (Solidworks, ProEngineer, SolidEdge, AutoCAD also considered)
-Awareness of Design For Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) and principles
-Analytic skills - you use your creativity and experience to analyse technical problems and provide input/recommendations
-Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation.
-Practical knowledge of manufacturing methods.
