Applications Developer

The signature software company of the Pacific Northwest is seeking a DATABASE DEVELOPER with strong REPORTING AND TOOL DEVELOPMENT experience/skills who is able to show equal passion towards supporting existing tools and new development projects. This is an assignment with a small team that supports several tools as well as OLAP and Data Warehousing BI. The majority of the responsibilities/time for this position will be spent on developing and maintaining financial tools. Existing tool modification and support will also be required. This role will be responsible for the database (T-SQL, stored procedures, SSIS) and reporting (SSRS, SSAS cube, MDX, Excel with.NET) components of the tools.

NEW REPORTING EFFORTS

- Partners with program manager to identify requirements, identify and evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions.
- Actively participates as a team member on project team.
- Architects, designs, and develops multi-dimensional schemas and SSRS reporting systems for internal partners.
- Actively participates in technical investigations and prototyping.
- Makes recommendations to improve business workflow efficiency and information access as well as provide education on the benefits and limitations of technology solutions.
- Ensure data accuracy and reliability.

MAINTENANCE

- Maintain existing production tools
- Routinely check ETL logs to ensure data has loaded and data marts have built as scheduled.
- Take proactive steps to resolve any errors in the data or job streams.
- Support Testing efforts (integration testing and UAT)
- Work with PM to provide end user support during period when tool is being used.
- Author required technical and support documentation
- Support production SQL processes (design and install patches, add functionality, improve performance).

QUALIFICATIONS

- Must have extensive experience with SQL 2008 (or 2012), database design and tuning
- Ability to sustain existing DB schemas, stored procedures, etc. as required to support business needs
- Reporting design and development experience using SSRS and building cubes required
- Ability to contribute to development methodologies and best practices
- Cross group collaboration skills with other Finance groups

This contract position is expected to be 12 months in duration.
