Application Support Specialist

Projektbeschreibung
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Investigate and resolve group-wide application issues functionally escalated by the IT Service Desk or Level 1 Support Teams.
- Escalate incidents through direct action or by escalating to and managing third-party providers.
- Group-wide application maintenance and bug fixes ensuring strict adherence to the group wide defined policies, processes & procedures
- Proactive monitoring and intervention of applications to prevent incidents and outages.
- Conduct root cause analysis of incidents ensuring complete understanding and rectification of all issues.
- Keep customer and management apprised of progress on issue resolution throughout the incident life cycle.
- Test new product functionality as required and communicate issues to relevant development teams and/or project managers.
- Promotion of new product functionality into live environments.
- On-going system/applications enhancements.
- Data analysis/system queries.
- Provide guidance and technical expertise to the IT Service Desk.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Third-Level IT qualification or equivalent experience
- 5+ years in a customer facing IT support role
- Strong problem solving skills
- Strong understanding of SDLC practices
- 5+ years installation and management experience with Microsoft based applications
- Familiarity with ITIL good practice - ITIL certification would be advantageous
- Familiarity with project management methodologies
- Demonstrable ability to work closely as part of a team and to guide/mentor other team members
- Excellent communication skills with a keen attention to detail
TECHNICAL SKILLS
A high-level of demonstrable ability with:
- SQL Server 2008
- Writing SQL Queries (select, update, join, etc.)
- DB backup and restore
- DB security
- DB optimization and indexing
- SQL Profiler
- SQL DTS/SOSS data import
- Microsoft .NET
- Strong understanding of ASP.NET or similar
- Ability to comprehend and modify content within ASPX/ASCX files
- IIS - Admin Functions (virtual directories, application pools, security, recycling etc.)
- XML/XSLT - Overall understanding with the ability to modify XML data
- Windows Server 2003/2008
- Overall Server Management (Event Logs, Performance Monitor, etc.)
- Crystal Reports XI or similar
- Designing, writing and modifying reports
- VMware - Overall understanding
- VM backup and restore/creation/Installation/Management/Backup & Restore
