Application Support Engineer, Technician, Internet Banking

APPLICATION SUPPORT TECHNICIAN FOR INTERNET BANKING

My client is a leading bank based in Amsterdam who is looking for an application support specialist to work in their Internet Banking department.

As the successful Application support technician, your job will be to support and strengthen the digital transformation to achieve the goal of being a fully digital bank by 2020.

You:

- have solid knowledge of the supported operating systems (AIX, Red Hat Linux, Windows), also in a virtualized environment
- have a proven record of application support within large/complex environments and understand how different applications interact with each other
- are experienced in using scheduling tooling such as OPC, Control-M and TWS and are familiar with application deployments using Udeploy or XLdeploy
- love your work as OPS-engineer, but you do have affinity with DEV as well.
- You actively work together with the customer and suppliers and should be able to advise them or even challenge them when acceptance criteria have not been met
- are able to work in Java, Perl, JavaScript, Python and/or other related programs
- moderate knowledge and experience using Kornshell and Bash Scripting

Preferably you will also have:

- entry knowledge of message concepts (MQ) and file transfers (ftp, sftp, ssh)
- entry knowledge of transaction management and database products (DB2, Oracle, SQL)
- experience using containerization techniques and tooling, such as Docker
- experience using Ansible for automating software provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment
- knowledge of the z/OS operating system or are curious to learn more about the strengths and benefits of this platform
- understanding cloud solutions (CMS, AWS, Azure)

BUT EVEN MORE IMPORTANT IS THAT YOU:

- are able to not only suggest solutions, but you are also able to put them in practice
- not only understand the technical part, but you are also aware that to create value you need to cooperate with colleagues, the business and other suppliers
- are a teamplayer, willing to help others and share your knowledge all the time
- have an exploratory and eager mindset, on the lookout for new developments, but as an OPS-engineer you understand that for sustainability adopting certain standards are required

EXAMPLES OF EPICS YOU COULD WORK ON:

- attending daily stand-ups and provide input and advise during these scrum meetings
- review of Non Functional Requirements to ensure quality of software being deployed
- providing BAU support in order to make sure Business As usual is not impacted
- assist and support the Delivery Project Service (DPS) organization with change activities
- working on Unix Scripts, connecting to Mainframe via Universal commands

Internet Banking consists out of 14 critical applications, with over 160 individual components. All applications and components need to be 24/7 monitored for outages as they interact with most of the bank's major Back End banking applications. For example, on average, per hour, about 85.000 customers log onto Internet Banking. Working for this Application Support team means you have a critical role for making this possible.

Internet Banking plays an important role within this organization and they are aiming to be a fully digital bank by 2020.
