Application Support Consultant

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide application support for information systems utilized by the Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) staff.
- Microsoft Project Server 2007 administration and customer support for all PPM applications.
- Troubleshooting application issues with users (both MS Project and PWA)
- User access issues/requests
- Restoring projects from Archive database
- Adding/updating/deleting enterprise custom fields
- Monitoring nightly jobs (OLAP cube build, Queue cleanup, Archive DB writes),
- Annual updates to OLAP cube Build schedule
- Annual updates to enterprise calendars with confirmed holiday dates
- Application Server disk space management
- Application patching (service packs and hot fixes)
- Communicate/monitor any planned system outages with customers (eg, server maintenance, database maintenance, etc.)
- Coordinate efforts for maintenance/support activities with internal service providers (eg, database team for OLAP cube build plans, etc.)
- Database querying related to troubleshooting issues with project schedules
- Serve as the focal point for problem triage and resolution.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

- Working knowledge in several of the following tools: Microsoft Project Server P12 (including MS Project 2007, PWA, and Data Analysis),.NET 3.5 using Visual Studio 2008 or above, SQL Server 2005 or above, SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 or above, Oracle 10g or above, DataStage 8.1 or above
- Working knowledge of the project and portfolio management process, with a solid understanding of computer systems and current technology.
- Good problem diagnosis skills coupled with solid exposure to database concepts and knowledge of Client Server and web-based application architecture.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as the nature of this position will be to communicate effectively across a global organization.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with other divisions of the company in accomplishing the above objectives.
