Application Security Analyst

For this contract position with a hugely popular online retail company, you will be identifying and designing security improvements for a specific application. As the SECURITY ANALYST, you will provide user support and troubleshooting, input on business requirements, application security and process enhancement support and documentation, application security maintenance, and partner training.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Analyzes current tools, system or database and makes recommendations for development, improvement or simplification.
- Assesses benefits to be derived from application security improvements and quantifies impact to business unit.
- Defines business requirements based on business needs.
- Helps design and develop new and improved processes, tools and application security enhancements to support business unit and compliance requirements.
- Acts as a subject matter expert in cross functional teams to provide recommendations on new initiatives or projects.
- Maintains the integrity and the functionality of application security by performing periodic audits.
- Monitors application security performance; analyzes problems and recommends solutions.
- Monitors usage, practices and trends to identify potential problems, and communicates issues to management, Information Technology, Internal Audit and Information Management Services, as appropriate.
- Participates in testing of application security functionality to ensure user acceptance and introduction of a new technology into the business unit.
- Coordinates with Information Technology partners on testing for application security fixes, new releases and enhancements, changes and implementations.
- Assists learning specialists with user training documentation during system implementation on an ongoing basis.
- Serves as contact for all users on application security issues or problems.
- Troubleshoots, identifies, tracks and ensures resolution of issues.
- Works with Information Technology (IT) department, other internal departments, or outside service providers as needed and coordinates issue resolution based on business unit priorities.
- Creates and distributes communication updates to system users on problem resolutions.
- Stays current on trends in application security and the latest compliance information, including but not limited to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and Segregation of Duties (SOD).
- Works with Information Technology (IT) partners, functional analysts and vendors on small to medium projects to coordinate application security enhancements.
- Tracks timelines and deliverables on application security projects and provides progress updates.

SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE:

- Application security design, testing and implementation: 3 years
- End User support and training: 3 years
- Functional area experience in retail, human resources or finance: 3 years
- Project management: 3 years
- Script development and application testing: 3 years
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to convey technical information in an accessible and understandable manner
- Effective customer service skills

This contract position is expected to be 3 months in duration.
