Our client is a global bank, headquartered? in Switzerland. Randstad Professionals is actively looking for an English speaking Application Operation and Support Engineer

Role overview

- Operation of Applications on UNIX/Windows infrastructure for several business units (IB, PB und AM).
- Technical Applications 2nd Level Support (mostly but not limited to Web Applications)
- Accountability for web services related Operating Level and Service Level Agreements

Key Deliverables

- L2 Support (incident, and problem management,) of highly available web services. Maintenance of software components.
- Operation of test, integration and production infrastructures for web based services running on Sun Solaris, Red Head Linux and Windows based systems.
- Planning and execution of maintenance of applications.
- Support of the integration of new systems and products, including support for projects through all environments from test to production.
- Quality assurance and acceptance tests of web applications frameworks
- Root cause analysis and implementation of sustainable solutions.
- Support of Life Cycle projects.
- Execution of disaster recovery (DR) tests in cooperation with application implementation teams.
- Create, revise and update technical documentation
- On-call support (7x24h) in the Application Operations team

Additional duties and responsibilities:

- Support project managers during the implementation of new application solutions, including technical support
- Quality management, operation level management

Qualifications/competencies (Please refer below for a complete list of competencies.)

- Completed apprenticeship in Information Technology or other adequate education
- Operational knowledge of state of the art web services (Oracle Weblogic and iPlanet, Microsoft IIS)
- At least 5-8 years of professional experience in operating web applications on various platforms (Sun Solaris, Red Hat Linux, Windows).
- Experience in system administration of UNIX environments. Know-how of Windows administration is an asset.
- Willingness to provide 7x24h standby duty
- Willingness to work on weekends and outside of office hours
- Practical experience in Incident, Problem and Change Management, including root cause analysis
- Strong analytical troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work and communicate effectively with customers, senior management and other stakeholders
- Good command of English and German (spoken and written)
- Knowledge and/or experience in Systems Management Tools (eg BMC Patrol, ITSM, ServiceNow), Virtualization (LDOM/VMWare), UNIX Scripting and ITIL V3 are an advantage.
