The contractor resource is for a 3 month period, primarily to ensure continuity of existing services and maintain quality of the solutions being delivered to support the needs of the user and business stakeholder community. This is a role within a Central Government organisation based in Leeds.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

- To manage the deployment of several releases into the live estate.
- Take lead responsibility for the successful technical testing, operational testing, implementation and initial live service management activities for a new release of the system.
- Taking an end to end view of the delivery of IT, including all Dependent and associated component delivery.
- Ensuring that all dependencies, risks and issues are adequately managed and resolved.
- Handling any contentions that arise between the various IT delivery organisations Supporting the IT Director in making decisions and handling key risks and issues.
- Supporting the IT Director in the management of external stakeholders and in handling their requirements of the Programme.

Reporting to the IT Senior Service Delivery Manager:

- The purpose of this post is to manage and be responsible for the IT Development Team's Systems Support Team.
- This post will form part of the IT team and be responsible for the management and co-ordination of a team of up to 8 staff.
- This team will provide an on-going support and maintenance service for the large portfolio of Systems that have been developed by the IT Development Team.
- It involves a deep understanding of development, release and deployment management in an Agile environment and will be responsible for defining and being responsible for standards relating to release and deployment.
- The post holder will be required to manage a highly complex and often contentious programme of releases across a large development portfolio.
- Systems Support is high profile work that underpins delivery of key activity and the post holder will be responsible for creating, adhering to and reporting on SLA's relating to high profile systems with internal and external customers.
- The post holder will be responsible for defining the process of "on-boarding" systems into the team ensuring that this process is followed. This involves ensuring that the key knowledge from delivery teams is transferred into the Systems Support Team and ensuring that the system can be supported, maintained and developed once the delivery team has been disbanded.
- The post requires managerial and operational knowledge of IT Systems and the extraction, analysis and interpretation of data from these.
- The post holder will be expected to have a detailed understanding of ITIL-compliant Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements and the associated data needed to manage these.
- The role will involve regular communication with external and internal customers

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Essential Experience:

The candidate must have proven experience of software development and leading application support teams.

- C#. ASP.NET. TSQL. XML Development tools. Visual Studio Suite Web and Distributed Computing. Web services and SOA. RDF. ReST SharePoint. MOSS 2007/2010. Workflow. InfoPath Design. Design Patterns Database/Data Warehousing. SQL Server. Oracle PL/SQL. ETL (SSIS). Reporting (SSRS). OLAP (SSAS)
