Application Engineer (South Brussels)

Je functie: For one of our customer we are looking for an application Engineer.
Job Objective: Support the operational lifecycle of the Global IT Medical applications

Global IT Medical provides solutions to the Centre for Information Intelligence & Integrity (part of the Global Clinical Development
- in relation to data: maximizing the value of information assets by building UCB data intelligence frameworks.

These solutions require to perform technical tasks, ranging from simple regular tasks (like data exports) to more complex tasks (like application backup and decommissioning). The candidate will work in close relationship with the other members of the team and UCB IT in order to perform these tasks.

Job Duties:
Application launch: assist in the testing process by designing test cases, conducting reviews and analyses and participating in software certification. Create or update the required documentation.
° Application operational tasks: perform regular operational tasks (report generation, data import/export…).
° Application operational tasks automation: design and implement simple side applications easing the running of operational tasks.
° Application technical support: develop the necessary technical expertise in order to provide expert technical support, including troubleshooting activities. Implement workaround procedures when standard methods have failed to ensure issues are addressed as quickly as possible. When necessary, escalate to the supplier and manage support tickets from creation to closing.
° Application decommissioning: take part into the technical activities related to the decommissioning of legacy applications. Create the necessary documentation.
Je profiel: Required knowledge / Experience

We are looking for someone with following skills:

Technical skills:
° Programming knowledge: Java (including Eclipse, Maven, Hibernate, Spring Framework), json, web services;
° Platform knowledge: Apache httpd, Tomcat;
° Database knowledge: SQL (mainly Oracle), Microsoft Access;
° Tools: SVN, AD/LDAP.

Optional technical skills:
