Application Engineer Job

APPLICATION ENGINEER needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Van Buren, MI.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

The Application Engineer - AppFactory is responsible for assisting businesses in re-factoring and migrating their applications to cloud providers. In this role, you will work closely with business application owners and enterprise architects to create and leverage best practices, mentor teams, and provide technical domain expertise to accelerate migrating applications to the cloud.

- Work closely with application owners to understand the purpose and functionality of the applications to improve the success of migrations
- Provide architectural consultation to application teams utilizing best practices, design patterns and standards in modifying and migrating applications to public and hybrid cloud environments
- Educate and mentor peers and application teams on best practices for deploying, modifying and migrating existing applications into cloud-aware applications
- Guide app team on code refactoring methods and techniques
- Document best practices, design patterns and standards that will be common to multiple applications.
- Participate in architecture and code reviews
- Assist application teams with integrating applications into operational services and processes
- Participate on multiple agile scrum teams, interacting with other team members including business application teams, quality assurance, and project management

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, analytics or a related field, or equivalent years of work experience
- Minimum of six (6) years of software development or engineering experience with one or more of the following technologies: Java/J2EE, HTML, C#, JavaScript, Hibernate, Spring, .NET Frameworks, SQL, MySQL or SQL Server
- Minimum of four (4) years of software design or engineering including requirements analysis, deployment, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience with designing, deploying and migrating highly available multi-tiered applications to public cloud providers (AWS or Azure preferred)

BONUS POINTS! OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience with web services, virtualization, cloud concepts, REST, JSON, XML, MySQL, PHP, LDAP, LAMP stack and object-oriented methodologies
- Experience in providing solution architecture in a cloud-based environment for performance, availability, scalability, interoperability, and maintainability
- Experience with engineering Service Oriented Architectures and RESTful web services
- Experience with revision and source control systems such as Jenkins, Bamboo, Github
- Experience with developing and working with Object Oriented Analysis and design patterns
- Experience with Object Relational Modeling (ORM) on MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL
- Strong knowledge of and demonstrated ability working across a variety of Java application platform technologies including Tomcat, Apache, IIS, JBoss and WebLogic
- Clear understanding of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology and respective experience with its application in design and development phases
- Proven track record of delivering excellent results in a fast paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently

- Strong team player - collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
- Highly organized and efficient; able to balance competing priorities and execute accordingly
