For one of our client, global investment banking leader, we are looking for APPLICATION ELECTRONIC MARKETS PRODUCTION ENGINEER to work on INITIAL 6 MONTHS CONTRACT in CITY OF LONDON.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

- take an active role in the support, management and enhancement of Fixed Income Electronic Markets in-house and 3rd party Transversal Toolset (BladeLogic, Jira, Geneos, TeamCity, Splunk) used both in development and production environment
- manage and maintain development and production environments used for a fully automated event analysis and remediation system (SCADA)
- development of automation, monitoring and general production support scripts
- ensure that the environments used by SCADA are fit for Global use on a day to day basis
- reviewing the environments and ensuring that they are kept in sync with production and there is sufficient documentation to support the applications running in these environments
- resilience and capacity planning to ensure production environments are sufficient for the various applications
- provide a link between application development and infrastructure and support teams
- identify areas of inefficiency and quickly develop scripts/applications to automate these areas
- monitor, manage and improve availability and performance of the production environments (from presentation and application layers to Middleware and databases)
- pro-actively manage the capacity of production applications
- plan and implement application releases, load tests and configuration changes
- provide feedback and propose solutions to management on performance, capacity and design issues
- work with other teams to respond to incidents and resolve issues promptly, often under pressure (ability to be on call)

TECHNOLOGY ENVIRONMENT:

- Server OS : Windows 2003/2008 & Linux Redhat
- Production Tools: Blade Logic, ITRS Geneos, Splunk
- Scripting/Language : Shell, Python, Ant/Nant, WSH Scripting
- Database : SQL Server, Oracle 10g/11g
- Workstation: Windows (XP professional)/Win 7
- Development languages : C#/C++, .net, Java

MAIN REQUIREMENTS:

- experience in managing production tools
- in depth knowledge of Linux (Red Hat 6) and Windows (2008)
- practical experience in monitoring tools with preference ITRS Geneos
- practical experience in deployment tools
- experience in BladeLogic, Jira, Geneos, TeamCity, Splunk
- experience in Scripting : Windows/Shell Scripts, SQL queries, Python, Perl (Bash/Linux Scripting)
- strong automation experience
- experience in .Net, Java and C++ builds and knowledge of build scripts using Ant/Nant, Make, MSBuild
- working behind the Firewall experience (network DMZ)
- databases - exposure to or skills in SQL Server and Oracle
- experience in Capacity and Resilience tools/testing
- appreciation of production processes, including change and release management
- good incident and problem management skills, with knowledge of ITIL beneficial
- good project management skills
- knowledge of the capital markets industry is desirable, but not essential
- good communication skills
