TITLE: APPLICATION DEVELOPER (JAVA)

LOCATION: SAN JOSE, CA

DURATION: FULL TIME

Description:
This contract position is part of the NOSTG Business Intelligence Operations group to support the software defect tracking and analysis function. This position is ideal for a senior software engineer with significant experience in developing scalable, high-availability, data-intensive applications. The ideal software development candidate will have the following background and characteristics.

Proactive attitude, with excellent communication skills
- Java expertise (7-10 years)
- Experience architecting and developing high-performance, scalable Web applications
- Experience with Java server technologies
- Ability to independently architect and develop software modules
- Extensive experience in Object Oriented programming
- Knowledge of web Front End technologies: (HTML/CSS, JavaScript, CUES)
- Extensive experience with at least one of the following areas: databases, reporting/business intelligence, web Back End/Front End technologies
- Experienced in web-based product architecture/design

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Server Side and client-side software design and development in Java
- Full support of the development life cycle for the application: requirements, design, test, deployment and end-user support

PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience with database programming and design
- Client Web development
- Experience developing GUIs using a standard toolkit
- Experience developing Real Time analytics applications
- Context knowledge of Cisco's bug filing and tracking is highly preferred
- Understanding the relationship between bugs, commits, releases and the associated reporting data integrity
- Workflow design
- Usability and User Interface layout and design
- Administrative interface design with business logic intelligence
- Ability to create mockups, detailed design specifications, database schemas, documented software flow diagrams
- Ability to create and track to scheduled commitments

Programming Skills and Application Experience
- Programming skills in JAVA, HTML, JavaScript, XML, Perl and Shell and Python Scripting for development and testing consistent with Cisco developer standards and within the existing application architecture.
- Programming experience is required in:

Java 1.6x SE, Glassfish 3.0.1 (build 22)
MySQL 5.1.30 jndi or c3p0
Spring2.5 for Dependency Injection (D.I.) and link to Hibernate (Hibernate Template)
Spring 2.5 D.I. for Security (Authentication) and Schedule (Quartz)
Hibernate 3.2 for ORM (Object Relation Manager and HQL (Hibernate Query Language)
Struts2
User Interface: CUES 6.2 (JSP + Charts), Dojo 1.4 (JavaScript), Combo of JSP plus Struts, Tiles
