Application Developer

We are currently recruiting for a Application Developer for our clients based in Brussels for a one year contract with possible extension beyond that point.

Job Description

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS

- Understand and analyse user requirements in close collaboration with the IRM project management team.
- Make use of Commission technologies for application's development.
- Design, implementation and maintenance of web and multi-tier applications.
- Development and integration of technological components.
- Implementation of user requirements.
- Prototyping.
- Database design and database integration with applications.
- Systematically testing and debugging new and/or existing applications and implement change requests.
- Definition of test scenarios in close collaboration with the IRM project management team.
- Producing appropriate technical documentation.
- Assistance with deployment and configuration of the applications and the databases.
- Participation in meetings with project teams.
- Provide on request training to the users.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

The consultant will work in the in-house development team of the HOME-JUST Shared Resource Directorate.

REQUIRED SKILLS

- In depth knowledge of application development environments.
- Excellent knowledge of the design and development of web and multi-tier applications and continuous build/continuous integration experience.
- Experience developing on multiple browsers including responsive web design.
- Very good knowledge and experience with Spring Framework core and other Front End technologies (Spring MVC, JSP, JSF).
- Strong professional experience in relational database systems and ORM (object relational mapping) frameworks.
- Experience with enterprise applications architectures (eg SOA, Cloud) and frameworks (eg TOGAF).
- Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application developments.
- Good knowledge of modelling tools (eg UML).
- Knowledge of software development methodologies (eg RUP, Agile).
- Capability of using both English and French languages in the working environment.
- Capability and experience in working in a team.
