Application Deployment Engineer

For our international end client we are looking for an application deployment engineer.

The team is responsible for development, procurement and global deployment and support of technical applications that are being used by Engineers across various Businesses globally.

Deployment of such applications into the global enterprise encounters many challenges:
- Technical challenges of hosting the applications on top of various components of global IT infrastructure that is managed and operated by 3rd party service providers
- Configuration challenges in order to comply with IT Security rules.
- Application performance challenges of addressing the needs of a potentially large user community with use cases that involve large data volumes.
- Organizational challenges of on-boarding the applications to separate global support organisation.
- Business Change Management challenges of planning and facilitating application version upgrades and user data migrations, globally.

The current Job Position of Application Deployment Engineer will be charged with design, implementation, troubleshooting and support of application configuration, deployment and upgrade procedures for few specific applications in the Engineering portfolio.

Activities
1) Configure server based applications, databases and SharePoint sites in global, regional and cloud data centers, collaborating with central IT service providers.
2) Analyze and resolve application performance issues related to configuration of the hosting infrastructure.
3) Onboard and integrate application specific reporting needs with centralized SQL Server Reporting Service operations.
4) Prepare central hosting of application help information using SharePoint web technologies.
5) Prepare, maintain and test core application configuration data, typically represented in XML files.
6) Prepare application configuration management documentation for run and maintain activities by a remote 2nd line support team.
7) Pursue sign-off by global support organization assuming accountability for ongoing application service availability.
8) Provide 3rd level user support on application configuration issues that are escalated from the central support organization.
9) Evaluate and troubleshoot operational issues of 3rd party applications to be run on desktops, and prepare design documentation for re-packaging of these applications and automated desktop deployment using Microsoft SCCM.
