Application Architect Designer

We are currently recruiting for a Application Architect Designer for our client based in Brussels, Belgium with specific expertise in software architecture and Java development

Description:

The projects involved in the role will cover:

- Management and implementation of directives and policies;
- Support of and interface to enterprises and SME's;
- Financial management, reporting and monitoring of financial transactions;
- Contractual management;
- Control of business processes and workflows;
- Database management;
- Document and content management;
- Communication;
- Human resources;
- Interface and data exchange with Commission's applications and Information Systems

The main technologies used within DG Growth are ColdFusion, Java, Drupal and Sharepoint.

The Information Systems unit of DG Growth is looking for an Application Architect/Designer specialised in UML, SOA, JEE, a business process modelling tool, Oracle/PLSQL, design of complex information systems and architectural tools (Power Designer and Enterprise Architect).

Nature of the tasks

- Architecture and design of information systems.
- Review of the architecture of existing systems
- Design and development of component architecture and building blocks
- Analysis of the integration of different information systems
- Data analysis and Datamodelling.
- Coordination of the implementation of the technical architecture
- Technical interface between the project leaders and the developers

o Draft technical documentation and provision of support during deployment and configuration phases
o Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and meetings with the users
o Assistance in the testing, the technical documentation, the deployment, the evaluation and the reporting

Knowledge and skills

- In-depth knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture
- In depth knowledge of applications design
- In depth knowledge of modelling tools
- Good knowledge of Object Oriented Programming languages
- Good knowledge of Relational DBMS
- Good knowledge of business process analysis

o Knowledge of interoperability technology (eg web services, message oriented Middleware, service oriented bus)
- Good redaction skills.
- Ability to give technical presentations.
- Ability to apply high quality standards

o Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application architecture and design
- Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, good communication skills.

o Capability of integration in an international/multi-cultural environment, rapid self- starting capability and experience in working in team.

Education and experience

- Minimum 18 years of relevant studies and experience after the secondary school
- Minimum 12 years of IT professional experience
- Minimum 9 years' expertise in software architecture and web development with Java
- Minimum 6 years' experience in design of information systems including UML

o Minimum 4 years' in web technologies (JavaScript, JQuery/JQuery UI, HTML 5, CSS, AJAX, Bootstrap)
- Minimum 3 years' experience with SQL and XML
- Experience with relational databases
- Experience with Web Services (REST/SOAP)
- Experience with the Spring Framework, Dependency Injection and Aspect Oriented

Programming
- Experience with Application Servers/Servlet Containers: Tomcat/JBoss/WebLogic

Specific expertise

Minimum a total of 9 years in one or more of the following areas: UML, SOA, JEE, a business process modelling tool, Oracle/PLSQL, design of complex information systems and architectural tools (Power Designer and Enterprise Architect)
