DESCRIPTION:
Evaluate, plan, design, align and define application architectures and components at both the enterprise and project levels. Be a part of an architecture group that provides sound foundation for the development, operation, support and maintenance of systems at the organization. Provide recommendations to the organization, management and project teams on a variety of growth initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Application architecture on delivery projects with typical magnitude from $1 million to $2 million.
Liaise and collaborate with business partners and IT stakeholders.
Provide subject matter expertise in the application architectural domain.
Develop architectural designs and evolve components of the enterprise wide application architecture with focus on the specification of components, frameworks, and applications as well as their inter-relationships and dependencies.
Conduct application architecture reviews, as well as integration interface and integration point reviews.
Determine impacts of application and infrastructure change.
Ensure solutions are aligned with business requirements and architectural principles.
Participate in the development of the organization's application architectures, principles and plans.
Develop, model and apply reference models to processes, information models, application and technical architectures as they relate to IT projects.
Develop and maintain reference architectures for the application architecture domain.
Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Proven hands-on experience in conceptual, logical and physical technology architecture modelling - 7 years. This includes hands-on experience in modelling and reuse of application components, integration interfaces and Middleware.
2. Proven hands-on experience in using and/or developing architecture and application frameworks - 7 years.
3. Proficiency and proven hands-on experience in RUP, Agile, and rapid delivery methodologies - 7 years.
4. Deep knowledge of computer science theory and principles, including object-oriented analysis and design.
5. Proven experience in programming in complex environments - 8 years.
6. Hands-on experience working in systems integration contexts - 3 years.
7. Experience in a wide range of methods, techniques, modelling notations and tools related to application architecture. Previous experience in using System Architect or Sparx EA is an asset.
8. Experience in assessing complex application architectures, including the ability to identify and manage application-related technology risks.
9. Exposure to and some practical experience in applying TOGAF is an asset.
10. Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to deal with ambiguity and drive out results.
11. Effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to present effectively to technical audiences.
