APPLICATION ANALYST (SUPPORT, ORACLE, INTEGRATION, RDBMS, MS SQL, CRYSTAL REPORTS, ACCESS, ACTIVE DIRECTORY, MS OFFICE, POWERPOINT, VISIO, CRYSTAL REPORTS, DISASTER RECOVERY)

Axica Recruitment are currently looking for an Application Analyst to work a 12 month contract with a major end user in Vancouver.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Application Analyst provides primary or secondary application support as assigned for existing applications. The Application Analyst is responsible for support of assigned applications through issue tracking, problem determination and resolution, execution of routine and non-routine support procedures, documentation, testing, and change management.  Tasks may include assisting clients with troubleshooting and problem solving, supporting upgrades and enhancements, development of Disaster Recovery documentation and assisting in the establishment of Service Level Agreements.

The Application Analyst will also be responsible for supporting the development, testing and/or implementation of information systems. Tasks may involve providing project management and support for all phases of assigned system development and implementation projects. Projects assigned would be small to midsize and the scope will generally involve 2 to 4 IT resources.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Understands my clients business processes as required to provide application support.
- Supports applications by maintaining close liaison with vendor and application users; coordinates with vendor and application user updates and patches. Coordinates the resolution of application problems in regional offices and aboard ships, if required.
- Provides support for application maintenance, modification and enhancement as needed through problem solving, database development, testing, and documentation.
- Works with Database Administrator and business departments to ensure data integrity and performance reliability of application databases.
- Works with business users and application developers to identify and implement enhancements to assigned applications; evaluates new software versions made available by the vendor.
- Creates simple and complex reports from applications using application Report Writer or third party products, such as Crystal Reports.
- Provides identification, tracking and resolution of application problems on a day-to-day basis, including evening and weekend support, as required.
- Advises Director, Business Applications of requirements (resources, procedures, and infrastructure) to maintain and enhance applications.  Also works with Director, Business Applications to ensure appropriate IT methodologies and standards are maintained for assigned applications.
- Identifies and maintains documentation for new and modified application support procedures.
- Responsible for application Disaster Recovery.                       
- Provides assistance on projects as defined by Director, Business Applications and/or Director, Project Office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Integration - maintain current integrations as well as implement new integrations to other ERP systems or 3rd party service providers.
- Primary task involves development and maintenance of enhancements, customizations of the ERP system and other software.
- Final escalation point for investigating complex software problems and coordinates resolution with vendors and/or in house resources.
- Develop complete design specifications for enhancements and interfaces and provides consultative guidance to project teams on their execution.
- Evaluate performance of applications and recommend changes to increase performance, efficiency, resolve issues etc.
- 4 to 7 years of progressive IT positions or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of RDBMS (Oracle/MS SQL), Crystal Reports, Access, programming/Scripting; marine shipping systems an asset.
- Strong systems skills (Active Directory, MS Office, PowerPoint, Visio, Oracle or SQL Server, Crystal Reports).
- Knowledge of systems analysis and system development life cycle theory emphasizing project management, continuous quality improvement and management information systems techniques.
- Ability to analyze operational problems and recommend innovative solution.
