Apple Engineer

Central Government client requires an Apple Engineer to manage hardware and software, based in Central London

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
To manage the Apple hardware and software environment; both server and client side;.
To ensure devices are optimised at all times by providing knowledge, expertise and implementation support on all changes across the network;.
To carry out the implementation and migration of our OS X Server environment to an MDM solution for our OS X client estate as part of our project to move to an IL3 environment..
To implement a new set of OS X device builds in DeployStudio.
To manage the timely build of new devices for hand over to the Service Desk team in preparation for new users;.
To package and deploy software updates and new applications as directed;.
To manage and provide operational support for a small team of network analysts;.
To provide Apple-related guidance to other network team members and work with them to support their ongoing Apple-related technical education;.
To work collaboratively with the Service Desk Team who act as the first point of contact for all issues and incidents;.
To report to, and support the head of Internal IT Services, in providing strategic input into ongoing planning to ensure that the network continues to meet its growing and rapidly changing needs;.
To support the creation of a service catalogue and internal processes documenting all aspects of the network and available services;

OUTPUTS/DELIVERABLES TO BE ACHIEVED:
1. ensure all laptop builds are complete on time before handing over to the service team

2. ensure the full support of the asset management activity

3. ensure the full support of all new infrastructure changes

4. ensure the continued optimisation of the OSX platform and device builds

5. ensure all software packages are built quickly and handed to the service team without flaw

6. Transfer knowledge to the wider network team

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Demonstrable practical expertise and knowledge of the build and administration of Apple OS X, both server and client within a mixed Server Side operating system environment;

* Demonstrable practical expertise and knowledge of other operating systems, Open Source and Server Side technologies such as Linux, Windows Server and Open LDAP;

*Demonstrable evidence of administering centrally deployed tools including Apple Remote Desktop, Apple ProfileManager, Apple Workgroup Manager, DeployStudio disk encryption, endpoint protection and antivirus systems;

* Demonstrable experience of the implementation and use of Mobile Device Management products for the centralised control of OS X end user devices

* Practical experience of creating and managing OS X policies, software packages and the deployment of a wide range of applications to OS X clients;
