Animal Technician Job

ANIMAL TECHNICIAN needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in KING OF PRUSSIA, PA.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

- Maintenance and husbandry of laboratory animals as detailed in Standard Operating Procedures/Local Rules, and provision of practical support.
- Maintenance of the health and welfare of the animals and the efficient completion of routine husbandry and animal care duties.
- Familiarization with humane and recognized techniques for handling and sexing laboratory animals.
- Regular feeding and watering of animals, which may involve the use of special diets and adherence to feeding procedures.
- Daily checking of the condition and behavior of laboratory animals; this will include recognition of the signs and symptoms of disease.
- The collection of biological samples and the treatment of disease.
- Provision of a clear and accurate record of all observations, animal treatments, environmental conditions, and husbandry procedures.
- Receipt and checking of animals, to move or re-allocate and distribute stock to experimental areas or other departments as required, ensuring that cages are always correctly labeled.
- Application of recognized methods of animal identification.
- Cleaning animal caging, kenneling and rooms regularly to the required standard; to disinfect and fumigate animal rooms as required.
- To develop ideas and proposals for animal care and welfare refinements and where appropriate to publish this work externally Operation of specialized equipment used either to maintain the required level of hygiene or in accordance with experimental procedures.
- To ensure that work is carried out and recorded to GLP, Home Office and departmental compliance standards.
- To ensure that own actions do not compromise the health and safety of themselves or others.
- Development of knowledge and ability so as to become more independent of supervision and be capable of accepting responsibility.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelors degree in Animal Science, Biology, or related science
- Zero to three (0-3) years experience

- Experience within a GLP environment
