Animal Technician

Description:
Under close supervision complete routine animal care duties for all species (eg mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, dogs, cats, cattle, swine, horses, goats, sheep) used within Clinical Operations.

For all species used in Clinical Operations learn and demonstrate the ability to humanely perform the following:

Feed and water animals and change cages according to established procedures.
Clean and disinfect assigned animal rooms and cages according to established procedures.
Provide proper handling and restraint of animals.
Maintain buildings and outside facilities.
Learn and demonstrate good housekeeping practices.
Learn and demonstrate equipment operation.
Learn and comply with all Standard Operating Procedures and documentation.
Adhere to all regulations and established procedures concerning housing, care, handling, feeding and watering of animals,
Depending on experience, may assist/perform basic laboratory animal techniques and procedures.

SKILLS:

Qualifications:
Education/Experience (Minimum) High School graduate or equivalent, Associates (2-year) or Bachelors (4-year) degree in science based field. Previous experience working with animals. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. Must be familiar with general safety procedure and guidelines. Must be self motivated and have a strong attention to detail. Good communication skills required.
