Android Mobile Apps Developer

Want to write Java code for Android? Come join our team and become part of a small team where you will have a large amount of scope and influence on popular mobile offerings. We are interested in your opinions about how mobile apps should work so you will have direct influence on how our client's app works. The Java code you write will advance the current application. The Android application connects Android users to our client's service which can also be accessed through browsers and iOS.

You should be passionate about providing an exceptional customer experience and writing high quality, well tested, maintainable code using Ruby, Rails, Java, MySQL, and other open source technologies. We use Scrum, Kanban, test-driven development, and pair programming to meet business objectives, building our software incrementally, ship code continuously, and refactoring systems as needed. We strive to maintain a reasonable work-life balance on our team by setting the expectation that most work will be completed during core hours. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent skills and knowledge
- Experience delivering results as a software engineer or Support Engineer, either demonstrated through internships or Full time work
- Experience using Linux or another Unix variant
- Experience writing code in Java, C++, or another object-oriented language used for building large systems
- Experience developing mobile apps on Android
- Experience diagnosing software problems and resolving bugs
- Demonstrable aptitude for software design, including strengths in conceptual thinking and synthesis

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience with mobile applications on the Android development platform
- 4 years' experience in software or support engineering
- Experience developing mobile apps on iPhone
- Bias toward taking on responsibility, diving deep, and delivering results
- High standards, applied to oneself and others
- Mindset of continuous learning and improvement - applied to software, oneself, and peers
- Ability to communicate ideas effectively, to listen to others' ideas, and to collaborate to arrive at great solutions

This contract position is expected to be 4 months in duration.
