Proteus Europe acting as an employment agency are currently looking for an Android Application Developer to join our client on a six month contract based in Cork, Ireland.
We are seeking an Android developer required to work on new project development and provide support to existing application deployments.
For the right candidate, this project should be an exciting and demanding opportunity to work in an established team building applications for internal products and external client projects. Candidates will be expected to be proficient Java developers with experience in a range of Android development areas including Push Notifications, in-app purchases, Server Side integration and client side caching.
Experience in enterprise level development, including code management practices such as source control and branching would be a significant advantage, as would some skills in creative design and tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Fireworks.
Responsibilities:
- Input to requirements analysis & application design
- Providing accurate estimates and timings to project managers
- Delivery of application development using Android development methodologies
- Mentoring other developers within a project team
- Ensuring all QA procedures are satisfied in terms of process and documentation
Technical Profile:
- The successful candidate will have 3-5 years Java experience with 2-3 years hands-on experience with Android (most recently API level 8 - latest ICS version).
- It will also be a requirement to have extensive knowledge of the Android technology stack and a strong understanding of Android UI design patterns is expected.
- Knowledge of development of handset applications is also required with tablet development experience being an advantage.
- Knowledge and appreciation of the mobile technology landscape is expected as is an up-to-date high level knowledge of alternative mobile development platforms.
- iOS development experience an advantage.

- Third level IT or related qualification
- Keen interest in technology in general, in particular the mobile space
- Articulate, confident, self starter
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Innovative problem solver
