AIX/Solaris Unix System Specialist

The Unix System Specialist is responsible for managing, maintaining and developing the client's infrastructure for EMEA and Asia. This is a multi-platform, complex, geographically dispersed solution, for production and DR. The client is also involved in many projects and initiatives globally and have a fast paced dynamic environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES FOR THE ROLE ARE LISTED BELOW:

- Monitor and maintain infrastructures for all customers in EMEA and Asia, and work with vendors to resolve complex hardware/software issues;
- Take internal escalations;
- Mentoring and working as part of a close knit team;
- Demonstrate leadership in attitude and demeanor;
- Troubleshoot issues and work with internal customers to effectively resolve them;
- Produce effective analysis on solutions;
- Be involved in pre-implementation and support of new applications;
- Works infrastructure tasks and tickets;
- Plans, implements, and supports infrastructure in GVA Data Centers including out-of-hours on-call support;
- Stays current with emerging technologies related to respective technology domain;
- Works closely with DBAs, Application Support Team
- Work with the Global counter-parts to create, implement and maintain best practices;
- Execute regularly required maintenances for patches and upgrades, etc

THE TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED ARE BELOW:

- Extensive experience in AIX administration (AIX 6.1, 7.1);
- Extensive experience in Solaris administration (Solaris 8, 10) ;
- Extensive experience in Linux administration (RHEL 5.5, 6.1) ;
- Extensive working knowledge on IBM P series ;
- Extensive working knowledge on SPARC ;
- Extensive working knowledge of IBM PowerVM ;
- Extensive working knowledge of PowerHA SystemMirror;
- Extensive experience in Shell Scripting and/or Perl;
- Excellent understanding of troubleshooting, testing, and performance tuning ;
- Excellent understanding of Job Management (CA Scheduler) ;
- Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP Networking ;
- Knowledge of databases (Sybase, MS SQL and DB2) an asset ;
- Knowledge of databases of Tomcat and WebSphere Application Server an asset ;
- Knowledge of databases (Sybase and DB2) an asset ;
- Storage knowledge an asset;
- Certifications: Any AIX, Solaris Administration, RHCE, RHCT, VCP.
