AIX Administrator's

My client a well known managed service company is currently seeking several experienced AIX administrators to be located in Sydney's CBD location.

THE SUITABLE CANDIDATES WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

- Plan upgrades and other changes to the UNIX environment
- Actively and pre-emptively determine possible failure faults and causes
- Provide Team Leaders/managers with input re projects/direction when required
- Manage and resolve problems identified by users or monitoring software
- Work with change and problem management tools
- Provide technical assistance to the other members of the System Administration team and Share knowledge/experiences
- Hardware fault detection and correction - vendor liaising
- Liaise with customer accounts as required
- 24x7 on-call support

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:

- Strong AIX 4.3.x & 5. x 6.x System administration experience
- Strong skill in IBM Virtualization products (HMC, PowerVM, LPM, VIO and LPAR)
- Strong problem determination skills
- Ability to work unsupervised on several issues concurrently
- Able to perform disk management functions such as extending logical volumes, creating file systems, mirroring disks (ie. Not through SMIT)
- Understanding and ability to manually rebuild a Kernel
- Proficient in TCP/IP
- strong understanding of P4/P5/P6/P7 pSeries hardware architectures
- Very comfortable with problem and change management practices
- Knowledge of IBM and non IBM disk subsystems and related device drivers (ESS, DS4xxx, DS8xxx, SVC, XIV, EMC, MPIO, SDDPCM, PowerPath)
- Knowledge of IBM System p hardware products
- System firmware related skills
- HACMP and HACMP/ES skills
- DNS/NTP/SMTP/DHCP skills
- Performance Monitoring and trouble-shooting.
- Sound Scripting skills
- Able to perform Operating System and Production Upgrades
- Ability to supervise others
- Liaise with Vendor ie IBM ITS
- Strong understanding and awareness of AIX system securit
- Strong communication skills - both verbal and written
