Airframe Design Engineer

AIRFRAME DESIGN ENGINEER

An Airframe Design Engineer with aircraft, design and defence experience is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Lancashire.

This is a 6 month contract working for a UK leading defence company.

OVERVIEW OF THE AIRFRAME DESIGN ENGINEER CONTRACT ROLE

The purpose of this job is to generate airframe design solutions in both 3D and drawing formats for the aircraft programme for mechanical structure, systems installations and electrical Installations. This is typically using the CATIA V5/V5 and Team Centre PLM toolset.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR AIRFRAME DESIGN ENGINEER

An experienced airframe design engineer is required to generate airframe design information using CATIA V4 and V5 and TeamCentre PLM, this should include experience of generating information with 3D models and the generation of both detail and assembly drawings. Experience in delivering Mechanical Structural, Systems and Electrical installation design is essential. Design checking experience would be desirable. Experience and knowledge of a defence aircraft would also be desirable. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and configuration control would also be desirable.

THE FOLLOWING WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:

The job holder typically requires a HND or equivalent in terms of formal education.

In addition to this level of education, it is desirable to have a Technical/Craft apprenticeship.
Experience and practical application of Airframe design including structural design, mechanical systems and electrical installations. This is typically experience in applying Airframe Design knowledge to generating design solutions. In addition, experience in applying tools and techniques.
The main area of knowledge required to perform the job is Design engineering. A working knowledge of practice/applications/basic theories of several aspects of that area is required.

The role is based in Preston, Lancashire - commutable from Blackpool, Lancaster, Morecambe, Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Skipton, Stockport, Manchester, Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham with excellent access from Liverpool and Leeds.
