Aerospace Systems Stress Engineer

Sitec is currently recruiting for Aerospace Systems Stress Engineers based in Filton, working within Sitec's Systems Stress team supporting A350 XWB and BLADE design teams.

The successful candidate would be part of an established team providing stress support to the respective project teams with analysis of fuel, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. The role will involve structural stress analysis, using standard classical methods and computational tools, along with some fatigue analysis in support of the optimisation of design solutions.

Other responsibilities will include:

Liaising with the appropriate customer stress signatories in order to ensure that current methods, assumptions, data and procedures are employed.

Liaising with other disciplines and teams to ensure an integrated solution is found.

Participate in major design reviews.

Support development of component test programmes.

Reporting and escalating critical technical issues to senior technical personnel.

Required skills

A successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following characteristics:

Experience working as an aircraft stress engineer involved in the analysis of metallic and/or composite structures, using a broad range of standard hand and computational methods.

An ability to rapidly and confidently assess structural problems.

Capable of ensuring that solutions are technically integrated.
A strong team player who shows a high regard for client and partner requirements, whilst maintaining design integrity as the over-riding principle.

An ability to work well within a trans-national team environment.

Good communication skills and a pro-active approach to problem solving.

Experience in producing detailed FE models using Patran/Nastran.

A good understanding of VBA within MS Excel.

English, to negotiation level.

Additional qualities may include:
Experience in Fatigue analysis of metallic structures.

A good understanding of aircraft production methods and processes.

Experience in using Catia V5.

Additional languages would be advantageous.

Security
All candidates must be in a position to obtain UK security clearance to a minimum of BC level.
