ADVANCED SKILLS WORKER

FULL TIME, FIXED TERM CONTRACT - 1 YEAR

SALARY £22,443- £28,922

FULL TIME - SHIFT PATTERN IS BETWEEN MONDAY TO SUNDAY 6.45AM - 9.30PM AND WILL INCLUDE SLEEP-IN DUTIES.

STAFF WORK AN AVERAGE OF 37 HOURS PER WEEK AND ACCRUE HOURS TO BE USED AS EXTRA DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS.

THIS POSITION IS WORKING WITHIN A SHORT BREAK HOME FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES.

The Role

To undertake senior specialist tasks within the Children's Homes, focused on practice and direct work with children and young people. In addition following direction and guidance from the Homes Manager and support from the Deputy Manager undertake certain specific management tasks allocated and monitored, in line with legislation, policy, action plans, cultural change, efficiencies and practice developments.

The post holder will take shift responsibility and lead shifts and undertake work throughout the 24 hour period. They will undertake sleep-ins work on a rota pattern of shifts that include working at weekends and bank holidays ensuring that the home runs in accordance with the Statement of Purpose, policies and strategies and is effective, adaptive to change and responding to the changing needs of the children and young people in accordance with the outcomes specification.

- A comprehensive working knowledge of direct work with children and young people in a children's home.
- Knowledge and experience of financial and Quality Assurance processes.
- Experience of dealing with violent and or aggression
- Good communication skills; written, verbal and IT.
- Supervision, annual appraisal and managerial support to team members.
- Basic financial and budget management linked to petty cash use.
- Liaising and communicating with other professionals and parents/carers
- NVQ 4 Care or completed within 18 months of appointment.
- A full driving licence and the capacity to drive the homes vehicle as required or access to a driver and access to a vehicle fit for work purposes and travel within the job.
