Advanced Hardware Engineer

Design, simulation, prototyping, evaluation and integration of hardware designs
Primarily digital hardware and supporting circuitry, with some analogue design
Production of high quality Detailed Design Specifications and other technical design documentation
Design of Test Specifications for manual and ATE test
Detailed, low-level circuit implementation of digital and analogue hardware
Circuit design to meet EMC, Thermal and Environmental constraints
Circuit Schematic and Constraints capture
Analogue and digital Signal Integrity (SI) simulation
Technical supervision of PCB layout using the PCB design team
Commissioning and integration test of completed PCB modules
Design verification testing against requirements and specifications
Collaboration with other engineering disciplines, including Mechanical Engineering, PCB Design, Procurement, Test and Manufacturing, to support the design process through to the finished product
Technical responsibility for all or part of a design from conception to product delivery, under the technical guidance of an immediate supervisor
Involvement in the planning and estimation of project schedules and reporting of progress to an immediate supervisor.
Product innovation and contribution to continuous improvement activities.

Relevant Design Experience:
Programmable logic and Microprocessor systems implementation
High-speed bus and interface design
Design of switched-mode and linear power supply design, and power supply distribution techniques
Use of design capture and hardware design tools
PCB signal integrity modelling/simulation and appropriate use of controlled impedance traces, terminations and PCB layer design
High density multilayer PCB designs supporting high speed FPGA and Microprocessor designs
Design for compliance with EMC, LVD, CE, RoHS and environmental standards
Design for manufacture (DFM) and test (DFT)
Use of logic analysers, oscilloscopes and general lab test equipment.

Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, Hyperlynx, IO Designer, Expedition; SPICE; JTAG

An appreciation of other disciplines such as VHDL, network protocols, analogue, mixed-signal and Embedded software design would be advantageous
