CONTRACT: 4-month contract (W2); may convert

JOB DESCRIPTION:

- The Admitting Supervisor is responsible for supervising and directing functions involving inpatient admissions, one day service registrations, and emergency room registration functions in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Provide daily supervision or management of the Riverside Medical Center Admitting Department.
- This department is responsible for Admitting Reps and Financial Counselor functions, which includes Point of Service Collections Activity, Admitting and Pre-Admitting.
- Eligibility verification.
- Knowledge of third party payors.
- Customer Service.
- Cashiering.
- Commercial Insurance authorizations.
- Ideally, will be able to process timekeeping for payroll, and to create or maintain the staff schedules. This person will work in our Health Connect Admitting System, and other related systems.
- Prepare and analyze department-generated data to help us make decisions about department performance (example: collections, admitting accuracy, productivity, etc.).

TOP DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Supervision of Hospital Admitting Department - supervising represented Admitting Reps and Financial Counsellors in their daily jobs.
- Customer Service/Service Recovery. Helping our patients as part of the Admitting Management function. Supporting staff with customer service questions/issues.
- Working in Health Connect, with Clarity or Excel Reports - review and analyze data. Use data tools to help manage the department.
- Scheduling staff, including providing coverage in response to daily call-offs.
- Working with other "partner" departments - such as Utilization Management, the Emergency Department, Appointment Center, and Medical Offices.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

- High School Diploma or GED; 4-year degree preferred
- 5+ years' Admitting experience and/or combination hospital business/billing + admitting experience
- 3+ years supervising a hospital department; highly preferred to have supervised union employees
- Admitting/Registration skills - familiar with the Front End process
- Point of Service collections
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent listening, communication and public relation skills
- Analytical skills - being able to look at data to form conclusions about next steps needed, or to perform a root cause analysis
- PC literate - Excel/Word/various computer applications
- Knowledge of healthcare programs, HMO's, PPO's, commercial insurances, etc
- Insurance verification and customer service experience
- QA experience and knowledge of billing processes necessary
- Competence and ability to organize and prioritize assignments
- Must work in a team atmosphere and be willing to take on additional responsibilities when necessary
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment

DESIRED SKILLS:

- Health Connect or an equivalent hospital admissions software
- Timekeeping
- Knowledge of government and commercial third party payors
