Actuarial Modelling Analyst

Hyphen have an excellent opportunity for an Actuarial Modelling Analyst to work for a large Insurance client based in York as an Actuarial Modelling Analyst for 3 months initially

Key Activities:
- Develop models independent of current production models that are used to calculate balance sheets totalling in excess of £100bn of liabilities
- Liaising with key Stakeholders in the review of independent models but also to develop any material shortcomings highlighted

Duties:
The contractors will join a highly capable and motivated actuarial systems development team, focussing on model validation and development prior to the implementation of the Solvency II regime on 1 January 2016.

The key areas of responsibilities will include the following;

- To develop independent Excel models from first principles and documentation of all life products in force
- To understand and reconcile differences between Excel models and PROPHET results for the key reported metrics
- In developing the excel models ensure all changes are undertaken under full control, with impacts understood and in line with design principles.
- Ensure developments are carried out in compliance with the various requirements covered by the Solvency 2 Model Validation workstream
- Work closely with offshore Actuarial Systems Development Teams, offering advice in respect of the developments, testing approaches and acceptance criteria.

Essential Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge and understanding of actuarial principles, formulae and methodology relevant to the Life business
- Numerate and analytical with a developed capability to interpret data and establish alternatives and solutions to complex problems
- Strong knowledge of excel & ideally VBA
- Strong focus on process excellence and documentation
- Knowledge of life company products
- Knowledge of PROPHET and/or equivalent actuarial modelling software
- Part Qualified Actuary or equivalent experience
