Activities Assistant

Eliza Jennings, a nationally recognized leader in person-centered care, is searching for an ACTIVITIES ASSISTANT for its assisted living community, Devon Oaks, located in Westlake near Crocker Park. The primary role of this part time position is to provide a variety of resident and family activities for entertainment and wellness. Some work is required on evenings, weekends, and every other holiday.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Prepare location, set-up and provide supplies; contribute to the development of activities. Clean-up after activity including returning room to original set-up.
- Facilitate pleasant and safe activities; encourage participation.
- Accompany residents on field trips. Drive when needed.
- Submit new ideas to Program Director; assist in the preparation of community calendar.
- Visit with residents, providing companionship, interaction and emotional support.
- Confer with nurse regarding resident health status.
- Assure safe and sanitary conditions related to activities.
- Participate in and promote SAIDO Learning; demonstrate continuous support, including but not limited to providing input for resident goals, transporting Learners to/from sessions, conducting SAIDO sessions, leading opportunities of engagement, and participating in monthly meetings; encourage residents to develop to their full potential.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Entry level continuing care or assisted living experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of aging population.
- Demonstrated basic understanding of social and health benefits of activities.
- Demonstrated understanding of regulatory compliance.
- In-depth interpersonal skills: demonstrated trust, integrity, compassion and ability to effectively deal with all types of people.
- Communication skills: demonstrated ability to facilitate activities and conduct conversations in a pleasant manner.
- Demonstrated creativity.
- Customer service skills.
- Computer proficiency: data entry and electronic charting.
- Ability to see, communicate, hear and utilize electronic communication devices.
- Considerable exposure to disagreeable conditions including odors, infections, illnesses, and physical contact with distressed residents.
- Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Physical agility to stand, walk, stoop etc.
