Accountant Within the Mortgages Team - London

ACCOUNTANT WITHIN THE MORTGAGES TEAM - LONDON

My client, one of the world's largest financial institutions, are recruiting for Qualified Accountant to join the Mortgages team, in London, initially on a six month contract.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS AND TEAM SIZE

- Primary function of the Mortgages team is to provide control & business advisory guidance. Key business partners are Price Verification (PVG) team and the trading desk.
- The EMEA Mortgages function comprises Securitization Finance, Commercial Real Estate, & Mortgages Trading desks. The finance function also support the EMEA based UK Residential Mortgages business comprises mortgage asset servicing, trading, structuring and funding activities.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE WITHIN CFO

- Complete regular control activities around P&L and Balance Sheet control across asset classes within Mortgage business. Help the business to develop efficient and profitable use of capital through accurate reporting of Risk Weighted Assets & profitability.
- Execute within control framework (completeness, reconciliation, accuracy and repeatability).
- Measure, report and escalate issues both within finance community and to the business for appropriate action.

AS A MEMBER OF THE TEAM, WILL BE EXPECTED TO:

- Run initial process and identify/resolve erroneous data.
- Display high level of ownership and attention to detail.
- Run process, escalating more subjective initial findings
- Prioritize and manage sub-processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve/enhance process and reporting challenging the status quo.
- Work within the broader team where possible to adopt best practice.
- Display strong communication skills both written and oral. Confident in communicating with colleagues from disparate professional disciplines

ESSENTIAL

- Qualified CFA or Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with good working knowledge of accounting concepts or a relevant degree and experience
- Excel: Able to build and use spreadsheets.
- Strategic Thinking: Solid understanding of business strategy.
- Takes ownership: Takes pride in their work, follows through on commitments.
