Accountant

Purpose and Description:
In the near future this position may be moving to Downey CA

Person must be flexible to work in either Downey or Pasadena, CA. Candidate should have a strong accounting background and be able speak and write well. Strong preference for someone with PeopleSoft general ledger working experience.

Essential Functions:
Responsible for the recording of daily transactions relating to inventory.
Preparing financial and regulatory reports based on those records.
Other responsibilities include performing account analysis, preparing account reconciliations, preparing accounting statements and reports and coordination and management of account reporting and filings.
Findings and recommendations are presented to senior management.
Represents the accounting department in communications to outside parties.
Preparing journal entries
Preparing account reconciliations.
Preparing financial statements
Preparing physical inventory general ledger account reconciliations
Research accounting transactions
Present findings to Senior Management
Create presentations
Identify and implement accounting process improvements

Requirements:

BS degree (Accounting or Finance Related)
5 years demonstrated experience performing detailed accounting functions including preparation of supporting schedules, journal entries, financial statements and account reconciliations.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls and accounting procedures.
Excellent spreadsheet (Excel) word processing (Word) skills and general database (Access) skills. Intermediate to Expert Level Skills  
Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
Able to identify potential problems without supervision and develop and present solutions to staff and management.
Flexibility to perform a variety of detailed accounting functions and meet established deadlines.
Ability to piece together data from multiple sources and determine if the data is adequate to meet financial reporting requirements for GAAP and for outside agency purposes.
Intermediate to advanced Peoplesoft GL module experience
Intermediate to advanced PeopleSoft inventory module experience
Ability to handle multiple tasks and solve problems independently without detailed supervision.
Ability to work without structure and prioritize tasks effectively.
Aptitude for numbers, strong attention to detail and well-organized.
Manage multiple project with short delivery timeframes
Ability to drive projects
Issue resolution and management
Must speak and write well to communicate with Senior Management

Adaptable

Preferred Experience:
Prefer CPA or CPA candidate
Experience in reporting tools (Business Objects, Cognos).
Experience in Health Care Industry.
Experience with Microsoft Access and SQL server
