Accountant Job

Yoh is currently seeking a FIXED ASSET ACCOUNTANT for a long term contract opportunity in Scottsdale, AZ.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Maintains integrity of accounting information and systems, in accordance with standards and rules under GAAP, as well as other regulating bodies. Position is accountable for recording the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets (both tangible and intangible), tracking fixed assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets.
- Reconciles, analyzes and synthesizes financial data from business operations.
- Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.
- Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system.
- Participates in internal and external audits, preparing schedules relating to fixed assets and assisting in inquiries.
- Performs more complex accounting activities to maintain complete and accurate general ledger in regards to fixed assets.
- Prepares journal entries and reconciles ledger accounts to the fixed asset subsidiary system.
- Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
- Investigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assets.
- Recommend to management whether fixed assets should be disposed of.
- Conducts analyses related to fixed assets as requested.
- Tracks the compilation of project costs into fixed assets and software accounts, and closes out those projects once they have been complete.
- Creates and monitors a system of controls, procedures and forms for the recording of fixed assets.
- Assist with special projects including process improvements.
- Tasks are varied and can be highly complex.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- Two to four (2 - 4) years experience in Fixed Asset accounting.
- Four (4) year college degree in accounting High School diploma or equivalent. Equivalent experience may be considered for substitution.
- CPA preferred/not required.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within Fixed Assets.
- Broad knowledge in the interpretation and application of accounting principles and practices.
- Strong computer skills including Excel and Access.
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
