Accountant

SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing input, feedback, and expertise on complex business and financial issues within a business unit or corporate environment. Responsible for direct material closing and analysis as customer facing rep. Special projects related to direct material as assigned including world wide training.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ability to analyze and understand various accounting issues that affect the business.
- Resolve issues independently, demonstrate accountability for your results, and provide in-depth analysis.
- Analyze and forecast inbound service charges, monthly STIP accrual, coordinate headcount reporting, capital asset & depreciation forecasts, contract reviews, along with ad hoc reporting and analysis.
- Coordinate month-end closing, preparation of journal entries and financial statements, verify accuracy of financial reports, and determine capital versus expense.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

- Ability to demonstrate excellent initiative, communication (written and verbal), analysis, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer focus and the ability to work with management at all levels required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint (minimum 2 years experience) required.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Access and Visio.
- Direct material purchasing experience is preferred.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelors degree in Accounting required (minimum 3.2/4.0 GPA, or equivalent preferred).
- Professional certification (CPA, CMA) preferred.
- 3-5 years progressive experience required.
