Accountant

Accountant with a degree in Accounting or Finance and 3 years or more commercial experience required for maternity cover at our client's offices. The position will supervise one junior accountant and be responsible for a diverse range of accounting, audit and compliance duties for the UK arm whilst contributing to a developing Accounting and Finance team in a growing and rapidly evolving company.

Accountant Responsibilities

- Manage period-end close process.
- Calculate monthly recurring revenue and revenue recognition in connection with period-end close.
- Prepare month end accounting reconciliation and manage daily cash reconciliation process.
- Manage accounts payable, associated expense reports and disbursements.
- Manage billing process and related interaction with engineering and sales teams.
- Prepare and file quarterly VAT return.
- Assist in managing audit teams and support the audit process for both UK statutory accounts audit and US corporate audit.
- Assist with preparation of Board of Directors reporting package metrics.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly sales team commission calculation.
- Assist to coordinate with external tax advisers.
- Special projects as required.

Qualifications

- Must have minimum of three years progressive Accountant (accounting) and/or finance experience in a public accounting firm or equivalent experience as a staff/senior accountant.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must have basic knowledge of UK GAAP and accounting and reporting principles.
- Able to embrace flexibility in assignments and the work environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively interact with business owners and senior level management.
- Must possess effective project management skills with ability to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in startup, fast-growing company is a plus.
- Experience working within international corporate structure and with foreign currency exchange accounting is strongly preferred. Experience working with US-based companies strongly preferred.

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
