Access Database Developer Job

MS ACCESS DATABASE DEVELOPER needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's Energy client located in Charlotte, NC

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- HANDLE CONVERSION OF MS ACCESS APPLICATION DATA TO MS SQL DATABASES. The ideal candidate must have excellent data analysis skills within MS Access and assist with the conversion of MS Access database to MS SQL. This is not simply a straight database-to-database conversion, BUT IS A FUNCTIONAL CONVERSION OF MS ACCESS DATABASE APPLICATIONS INTO MS SQL DATABASE, JAVA-BASED WEB GUI APPLICATIONS USING MSRS FOR REPORTING. Ability to understand and document functional use of the application is essential.
- The work requires the individual to become familiar with the functional use of the application as well as researching how the Access database application provides end user functionality. A working knowledge of MS SQL is also needed to read and interpret MS SQL queries that are used to produce extracts to be imported into MS Access applications. Web GUI development and MSRS reporting are not required, but expertise in MSRS is desirable.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- In-depth knowledge of MS Access including Forms, Queries, and especially Import and Export features.
- Experience researching and documenting functional use of an MS Access Database Application. This will include the need to interface with business users of the application.
- Experience doing data analysis to track import data and transformations within the MS Access application.
- Experience reading and understanding MS SQL queries that are used to produce import data for MS Access applications.
- Experience documenting data maps from database tables/columns to MS Access forms and reports.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to present the results of work performed for peer review, including accepting feedback to improve overall project delivery.
- Education: Bachelors Degree or a combination of education plus equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrable experience developing and using MS Access
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrable experience developing SQL

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience developing SQL queries with attention to performance
- Experience developing MSRS reports
