ACC Clinical Coder

We pride ourselves in the service we deliver and our customer satisfaction. I am currently working with an NHS organisation in the Midlands who require an ACC Clinical Coder on a 6 month contract.

The purpose of the position:

To abstract, analyse and translate patient diagnoses using the International Classification of Diseases volume 10 (ICD10) and operative procedures according to the Office of Population Census edition 4, (OPCS4). Additionally to apply the recognised coding rules and conventions to code all inpatient episodes, in order to meet strict monthly deadlines to support the Trust business requirements and effective patient care. Additionally to liaise with clinical staff to deal with queries and locate and collate missing source material for coding purposes. To act as a mentor to less experienced coding officers with less than 2 years experience.

A few of the key responsibilities include:

1) To communicate complex coding rules and conventions to clinical and administrative staff and external agencies and commenting on local agreements under the supervision of the team leader.

2) Work on an individual basis and as part of a team to ensure monthly coding deadlines are met, in order to meet the Trusts internal and external information and business requirements.

3) Code all specialties including general, maternity and community coding, for the purposes of self-development, staff cover and to meet monthly deadlines, to ensure the Trust receives full income for all activity carried out, as outlined in Payment by Results' (PBR).

The contract is for 6 months paying a day rate of £250- £300. If you know anyone who would be suitable then please pass on my details.
