ANNOUNCEMENT OF SEARCH

The Department of Surgery/Division of General Surgery at the Stanford University School of Medicine seeks an academic breast surgeon to join the Division during the next 12 months. This faculty position will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, based 100% at Stanford University in the Medical Center Line (MCL).

The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the Medical Center Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service - appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. The candidate must be board eligible/certified in General Surgery and ideally would have completed a breast fellowship. A strong history of clinical, translational or basic science research is expected. We expect the successful candidate, especially at the Associate level, to have a demonstrated track record of research funding and to have a strong publication track record in leading journals. Research interests in basic science including cellular or molecular biology, oncogenomics, cancer stem cell biology, or tumor immunology research would fit particularly well with opportunities at Stanford University and the Department, although excellence and achievement in other research areas will also be considered.

The successful candidate will be actively engaged in the Stanford Breast Oncology Research Program within the Stanford Cancer Institute, to include basic and/or clinical/translational research collaborations, active participation as a Principal Investigator in clinical trials, participate in training activities in the Stanford Breast Oncology Fellowship Training Program, commitment (and potentially a leadership role) in tissue banking, and active participation in the Multidisciplinary Clinic session and accompanying tumor board.

Stanford University is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty. Stanford University welcomes nominations of and applicants from women and minority groups, as well as others who would bring additional dimensions to the university's research, teaching, and clinical missions.
