PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE

The position is for an Ab Initio consultant to increase the temporary project capacity of the Ab Initio development team within IT Build.

The Ab Initio team is a highly motivated technical team involved in the delivery of a large number of critical projects and services. Ab Initio environments are a key component of the timely provision of data The Ab Initio team are responsible for the design, development and maintenance of innovative solutions that support the delivery of value add services to IT build customers. The team are also responsible for 24/7 third level support of the production Ab Initio services.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Technical

- Significant Ab Initio design and development experience within technically challenging project environments. ie high volume, low latency, big data
- Deep knowledge of the Ab Initio toolset including GDE, EME, Data Profiler, Continuous Flows, Management Console to a minimum of v3.0
- Must be able to work under own initiative with limited guidance from team manager due to the fast pace and high volume of work managed by the team.
- Proven ability to integrate quickly within a project team and company.
- Experience of development on AIX and/or Solaris operating systems.
- Experience of development using Unix Shell Scripts.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand a business problem and pick an effective and pragmatic solution.

- Good consulting and relationship management skills and an ability to work comfortably at all levels of the organisation
- Excellent verbal and written communication and possessing strong presentation skills
- Good prioritisation skills
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Team lead experience in a technical project environment. Including planning work, resource management, reporting. Ensuring standards for design, development and documentation are enforced.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

- A recognised expert within the Ab Initio industry.
- Experience of development with IBM WebSphere MQ, ideally with some exposure to Message Broker and Data Power
- Experience of development with DB2
- Experience/knowledge of agile development methodologies.
- Experience of development work in Datawarehouse environments
- Experience of the Payment Services industry
