A Tactical Data Link Software Engineer

A TACTICAL DATA LINK SOFTWARE ENGINEER - C++, UML, DOORS

A Tactical Data Link Software Engineer with C++, UML, DOORS and Link16 domain experience is required to work on a six month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Yeovil.

This is a 6 month contract with a leading UK Defence Business.

OVERVIEW OF THE A TACTICAL DATA LINK SOFTWARE ENGINEER CONTRACT ROLE

You will be responsible for clarifying Tactical Data Link requirements for naval and ground systems, capturing the analysis within DOORS and Use Cases as required. You shall participate within requirement reviews with the customer. Experience of taking Use Cases through to UML Design is an advantage.

Code development and review with strong OO programming skills, including detailed knowledge of the STL and MFC libraries are essential. All team members are expected to work across the life cycle and this will require support of the Verification & Validation activities. For all work you shall be able to estimate the effort required to complete and understand the risks associated with each task.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE TACTICAL DATA LINK SOFTWARE ENGINEER

- Demonstrable competence working across the software life cycle
- DOORS requirements capture
- UML analysis and design on Artisan Studio 7.1
- Visual Studio C++ language and knowledge of MFC
- Link 16 domain knowledge, in particular NATO Standards, 5516 & 5616
- Able to work as part of dynamic team with changing priorities
- Software Engineering or Computer Science degree or equivalent

The role is based in Yeovil, Somerset - commutable from Bristol, Bath, Trowbridge, Warminster, Frome, Salisbury, Blandford Forum, Dorchester, Weymouth, Exeter, Taunton, Bridgwater and Weston-Super-Mare.
