WEB Developer

The WEB DEVELOPER ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering front- and Back End code for Web Service(s) running on AWS infrastructure. S/he will provide technical and strategic expertise in planning and developing new features, debugging, maintaining, expanding and documenting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide software/web application design and development to meet the team's design objectives for web applications, interfaces, and interactive visualizations using the most recent web technologies.
- Collaborate and participate in regular team meetings with humanities scholars, designers, and librarians to determine user requirements and technical specifications for software/web application projects.
- Share, test and debug, document and maintain the code using collaborative revision control systems (ie Git).
- Deliver assigned work packages according to work schedule.
- Iterate in a development and user-testing cycle.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Portfolio of work and 2+ years' related work experience required
- Ability to to develop interfaces and interactive reports and visualizations using the most recent web technologies, such as REST, HTML5, Java/JavaScript, PHP, Python
- Experience creating and develop Back End parts and databases (Tomcat, Amazon RDS)
- Easily manage and manipulate different data formats (CSV, JSON, XML)
- Familiarity with XMPP/jabber a plus
- Experience and comfort working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment

This contract position is expected to be 6 months in duration.
