VB.NET/ASP.NET, SQL Server Software Developer - 12 Month Fixed Term

My client, a leading provider of financial payment software solutions, are seeking a .NET Developer to join their Birmingham city centre based team ON A 12 MONTH FIXED TERM DURATION.

You will need to bring a solid understanding and in-depth experience of the following Microsoft technologies:- SQL Server 2005-2012, Web Development using JavaScript, jQuery and ASP.NET using VB.NET.

With an ability to hit the ground running, you will be responsible for developing, enhancing and maintaining .NET Applications. Knowledge and practical experience of the software development life cycle is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analyse software requirements; write unit tests, identify product impact and possible implementation options, and recommend the  solution that best suits the needs of the requirement

Creation and maintenance of application code that meets design specifications, follows internal standards, and is easy to maintain

Test and review code for technical accuracy, standards, and functional compliance to the design

Participate in the investigation and resolution of software defects

Creation of functional specifications and design documents for software enhancements

Maintain product documentation to reflect enhancements and other software changes

Work within deadlines in relation to product release timelines, and complete assigned development tasks in required timeframes

Fulfill administrative reporting requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

To meet this challenge the role requires a high level of initiative and professional credibility gained in the following;

University Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related discipline

2+ years' experience in software application development on the Microsoft .NET Framework 2 onward, principally VB.NET

Good knowledge of SQL Server 2005 - 2012

Web Development skills using JavaScript, jQuery

Good understanding of OOP will be an asset

Further exposure to any of the following will be a distict advantage;

Agile, ASP.NET MVC, MVVM, C#, Test Driven Development, Unit/Integration/Acceptance Testing, B2C, B2B environments, SOLID Principles, System Integration, Time estimating, T-SQL, Mobile platforms, Project management.

Your personal characteristics should incorporate a logical and analytical mindset, a methodical approach to problem-solving and a high attention to detail. Working in a small team, it is also imperative that you are happy taking responsibility and bring good communication skills with an outgoing approach.
