Technical Writer

Interesting TECHNICAL WRITER contract opportunity east of Houston Metro. Projected 8+ months assignment. Local candidates only.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develop and write maintenance procedures for use by site maintenance personnel when they are servicing equipment in the manufacturing units
- Organize material and write maintenance procedures according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
- Reviewing existing procedures and determine the need for revisions and edit, standardize, or upgrade procedures
- Conferring with internal plant maintenance and engineering personnel and outside vendors to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be included in the maintenance procedures
- Studying drawings, specifications and vendor equipment manuals as well as select photos, drawings, and sketches to incorporate into the maintenance procedures

REQUIREMENTS

- BA Degree in English/Journalism/Technical Communications OR BS Degree Engineering/Computer Science OR equivalent related experience
- Two years in technical writing including experience in Technical editing
- Working knowledge of: EXCEL, WORD, and PowerPoint Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, HTML, Paint Shop Pro
- Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills
