Technical Writer

A leader in medical technology is currently seeking a Technical Writer to plan, research, write, and revise technical documentation including manuals and e-manuals in the Jacksonville, FL, area. This is a 7 month CONTRACT assignment, with the possibility of extension. Local candidates only, as there is no per diem available for this position. Pay rates listed are estimates, so all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Documentation includes individual manuals, modules or chapters within large manuals, or manuals for subsets of product lines
- Research products by reading product specifications and other documentation, interview subject matter experts, and investigate prototype hardware and software
- Write and edit manuals, including localizing English content, according to regulatory and geographical requirements
- Develop or coordinate illustrations, photos or other media with graphic designers

REQUIREMENTS

- BS Degree in Technical Communications or a related field preferred
- 3+ years of Technical Writing experience
- Familiarity with SGML, HTML, or XML and the Adobe CS4 suite
- Familiarity with on-line documentation or HELP systems
