Technical Business Analyst - Leading Investment Bank - New York City

TECHNICAL BUSINESS ANALYST - LEADING INVESTMENT BANK - NEW YORK 

THE TASK:

In this role, the business analyst will have come from a developer background and have experience of using software such as Excel, Access, SQL and VB.NET. The business analyst will work with a team of UK fund accountants to design and build automation into their processes for producing UK fund report & accounts. This must be done within an overriding objective of ensuring as much commonality of process as possible between report & account production in the UK and the offshore fund accounting teams. The candidate is expected to have a strong background as a business analyst in the finance and banking industry.

YOUR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AS THE LEAD BUSINESS ANALYST: 

- Analysis and documentation of the business processes to produce annual and semi-annual fund report and accounts to enable process improvement and re-engineering
- Identify and deliver successful automation to increase productivity and efficiency of the process by developing database and spreadsheet solutions.
- Design and develop the solutions in a consistent manner with the framework for tactical solution development as managed by the UK Process Improvement team.
- Produce user documentation and support documentation for the delivered solution.
- Train users to use delivered solution(s).
- Train the team that will provide on-going support for the delivered solution(s). 

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:  

The prospective business analyst will have a proven track record in delivering automated solutions to support complex business processes. Knowledge of accounting and/or investment management is an advantage. Prior work in an asset management company is also very beneficial. Experience with general ledgers, hedge funds, asset management, fund accounts and/or reconciliation will dramatically increase the chance of your application being successful. 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE BUSINESS ANALYST ROLE:

- Previous Business Analyst experience
- Experience of Excel, Access, SQL and VB.NET.
- Process mapping and process re-engineering.
- Business requirements analysis.
- Technology development using configuration management.
- Assessing the relative benefits of competing ideas.
- The ability to identify and automate inefficient processes.
- Strong analytical skills
- Hedge fund/General ledger/asset management/fund accounts/reconciliation experience
