Software Development Manager Worldwide Planning Systems

OUR CLIENT\'S HARDWARE IS AT THE CENTER OF ONE OF THE MOST INNOVATIVE, AND GROWING BUSINESSES IN THE MOBILE INDUSTRY. This position offers the opportunity to design a new demand and supply planning system to support worldwide planning processes for mobile devices. As a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of SDE's in design, development, test, and deployment of planning software solutions from the ground up. The planning system will be supporting the worldwide devices planning team. You should have an established background in designing and building highly scalable demand, supply, or supply chain planning systems, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and the motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. You will be building your own SDE team ground-up and establishing development processes.

You and your team will use a variety of mainstream and open source technologies like Java, C++, Linux, JavaScript, Oracle, as well as in-house technologies. The technical skills required for this role include strong Object Oriented Design and programming in Java or C++. Some Scripting, SQL and data modelling is helpful. An understanding and experience with web based technologies is essential. These may include HTML, HTTP, JavaScript, AJAX, Apache, Tomcat. Experience working pragmatically under deadlines with operational software is highly desired. In addition the role will offer project management, leadership and system design opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Overall development life cycle for supply chain solution
- Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment
- Management of departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering team
- Working closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
- Reporting on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (MS in Software Engineering/Computer Engineering/Electrical/Electronics preferred)
- Strong technical credentials, with at least 6 years' experience managing a software development team
- Development expertise in OOP, Java, C++, XML, Web services and UNIX tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, across all levels of the organization
- Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complex analysis
- Proficiency in programming language such as C, C++, Java, or PERL
- Ability to effectively deal with ambiguity and change; devises frameworks or logical models to resolve and prioritize
- Demonstrates excellent judgment based upon strong technical and product vision
- Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
- Experience developing Supply Chain solutions and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability
- Strong track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional, projects
- Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features and technical designs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Experience mentoring junior and mid-level software engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective

Contract position is expected to be 6 months in duration.
