My client, a leading Medical Device Contract Manufacturing Company, has an urgent requirement for a Senior Test Engineer. This is an urgent 12 month contract position in a rapidly expanding and fast paced company with excellent potential for extension. The rate for this position is between $50 and $70 per hour. The Contract Manufacturing Company (CMO) produces a wide range of products for the Medical Device market and is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to undertake the following: * Lead Design Verification test activities for large medical device programs to include: * Develop testing approaches and fixtures to satisfy the product requirements * Conduct test method validations and characterization testing * Design verification testing, reporting results * Guide the testing activities of entry level test engineers providing direction and feedback * Document test studies by recording test results, preparing reports, and maintaining test database * Operate test lab equipment and software such as mechanical testing load frames, servohydraulic/fatigue, impact drop stands, and data acquisition * Utilize statistical tools such as: Design of Experiments, ANOVA, Gauge R & R for experimental design and data analysis * Identify product failures utilizing sound engineering failure analysis techniques, identify root cause, provide guidance to eliminate future failures * Keep work area and labs clean and orderly (5S approach) * Report incidents and injuries to team leader/manager immediately * Recognize close-call incidents and safety hazards and take action to eliminate them * Use equipment properly and follow the safety features/operating procedures * Wear applicable personal protective equipment * Follow applicable safety, quality, and environmental programs, policies, and procedures * Actively participate/lead continuous improvement, corrective action, and customer satisfaction initiatives Candidates for this position must have the following: * Bachelor/Master of Science in Engineering * 8+ years test engineering, medical device development, or similar experience Skills & Competencies * Experience with medical device development and design verification testing * Strong understanding of test standards, material behavior, equipment and test lab methodologies * Ability to manage multiple testing activities within a program, lead in a team setting, and drive programs to successful completion * Able to interact with customers and provide technical support during development as it relates to testing and device performance * Willingness to provide feedback, seek opportunities for growth and development, identify weaknesses and strive for excellence * Competence in static and cyclic testing, data acquisition, and common test engineering methodologies * Demonstrable track record of planning activities with contingency actions * Demonstrable strong written, verbal and interpersonal and communication skills Apply now for immediate consideration or contact Tom Bakker on 312-453-9088 for further details.
