About the role:

How would you like to be a senior member of a small team of system professionals focusing on the support of the event management system on the upcoming hosting of the G20 worlds premier forum for global economic and financial cooperation and decision making.

The Senior System Administrator is responsible for the system administration, maintenance and support of a range of server related components including AD, Exchange, Backups, Firewall, VMware, security monitoring and network management. The Servers will be cloud hosted and remotely administered by Thales staff.

Key responsibilities:

Administer and maintain the daily operations of the EMS systems including hardware, operating systems and software deployments

Provide Level 2/3 support to the EMS system including system administration duties as directed

Provide technical input to the project team and assumes a supporting role in selecting and utilizing appropriate tools and techniques for timely service delivery

Provide an effective interface among users, vendors, IT partners, and consultants in evaluating technical issues and products

Work with other project staff to understand the impact of upcoming changes to the platform

Develop Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for solutions

Keep abreast of technology developments and provide recommendations and advice on technology selection.

Attend and participate in regular departmental and project meetings.

Attend and participate in technical reviews (both internal and external).

Skills and experience:

Extensive years experience providing system/server administration with one or more of the following technologies:

Microsoft Windows 7

Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2

Microsoft Windows SQL Server 2008

Experience working with software monitoring tools such as PRTG, NAGIOS or similar

Experience with Microsoft Exchange, SQL, Active Directory, Backup Servers, VMWare, Firewalls & Networking device support and administration

Demonstrated 2/3rd level problem solving skills and server support skills for Windows Server, Exchange and SQL database Servers and advanced Active Directory configurations

MCITP, MCTS and/or MCSE is highly desirable

Previous experience in the ITIL framework would be highly advantageous

Special requirements:

You must be able to obtain an Australian Security Clearance and meet the requirements set out by ITARS.
