My client are a leading transport company looking for a Senior Project Planner to join their team to provide expert project planning on a large portfolio of projects encompassing design and delivery within Infrastructure Projects Scotland & North East region.

ROLE: Senior Project Planner

LOCATION: York

CONTRACT RATE: £300-£400 per day

CONTRACT LENGTH: 3 months

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Develop appropriate project plans in accordance with the Project Management Framework and GRIP.
- Monitor and report progress of these plans. Develop recovery programme and contingency plans to meet revised objectives.
- Resource, volume and cost load project plans as appropriate.
- Review planning risks and update the risk register accordingly.
- Oversee the reporting of actual performance and variance against forecast outcomes. Summarise key milestone and critical path issues to members of the team, provide an assessment of the impact of such issues and recommend corrective solutions.
- Oversee the auditing of contractor plans. Ensure the contractors' planning processes comply with the companies procedural requirements.
- Challenge the contractors' statements of progress for payment purposes.
- Identify key possession requirements and check that these are properly booked.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

- Experience of using a number of project management scheduling tools
- Primavera 6
- Experience working within the rail industry
